The constant evolution of ultra-high performance polymers now offers a wide range of materials that are ideal for the shift from metal to plastic, thanks to their mechanical and thermal properties and their higher specific strength. In many applications, weight reduction brings many advantages, such as reduced friction, lower energy use, lower dynamic stresses and lower system costs.

Designing with plastics may sometimes seem more complicated than using metals, but the possibilities in terms of product variety, transformation processes and secondary operations(welding, inserts, moulding, painting) allowed by polymers,provide unprecedented application possibilities.
